Hi,I have recently upgraded my workplace systems with windows 10. All the PC's except for one have been flawless. The last PC who created our homegroup has come up with an error.
At first no matter what i did i couldn't get the other computers on the network to discover the PC even when connected to the homegroup. So i decided i would disconnect all the PC's from the homegroup and start again.Once i had every PC left from the homegroup it now says the problem PC which created the homegroup in the first place is inviting me to join a homegroup!!! I now cannot connect even with the correct password and all the other PCS cannot connect to this ghost homegroup that no longer exists (or even the PC to that matter).I have tried various fixes on the internet to no avail and i have used the method where you delete the files in C:WindowsServiceProfilesLocalServiceAppDataRoamingPeerNetworking also to no avail. I now have every PC out of the homegroup and turned off and just this one PC on to see it i can fix it.Is there anyone out there that can help me?! How to Create a Homegroup in Windows 10 Quick and Easy – One of the biggest advantages of Windows 10 is the creation of a network. The process is very quick and easy. You can create a Homegroup of networking between two systems containing operating system Windows 10. The message I get when I try to set up a homegroup on this computer is 'Windows can't set up a homegroup on this computer'. I have tried everything that has been suggested on troubleshooting forums I have searched on the web about this problem but with no success. I am trying to create a network with this computer and a Windws 10 64 bit Dell. For this purpose in Windows 10, you go via either Cortana search by typing Homegroup in the bottom part which directly reach the particular settings or Control Panel which comprises Homegroup link on its interface, but after all when you hit Create homegroup button it prompts the Message like is This computer can’t connect to a Homegroup in Windows 10. This means that you can’t create, join or leave a HomeGroup; You can’t share files and printers using the HomeGroup; All shared printers and folders created with the HomeGroup will be still available. But you can’t create new ones. However, in Windows 10, you can still share resources that were previously shared within the HomeGroup. If it happens again i will try this!I had my homegroup working and then it stop and now both computers desktop and laptop only say Create even after I Create a Homegroup on one of the computers. I have tried everything I have read. Thought this one might do the trick because had me deleting folders, computer names, etc. Any other suggestions appreciated. Yeah, same issue as many, it appears. In Windows 10, I have a Homegroup created by my laptop. But, not only can I not join it with other computers, but when I try with the laptop it says, 'No Homegroup found'. That's after telling me that the Homegroup exists and asks if I want to join it. So, on the one hand the network(?) sees a homegroup, but then when I try to join I'm told it doesn't exist. What do I do?!I've deleted the files in the Peer Networking folder on each computer, insured that ipv6 is ticked, that the Homegroup and Peer services are running. Turned off all machines and turned one on to try to create a new homegroup, but with the same response, that one exists, but unable to join because then it doesn't find it. I've also flushed the dns and renewed (I only know enough to be dangerous - how in the WORLD does the average home user deal with this?!!)If it helps, each computer shows different network names. My laptop - which created this homegroup - is showing the wireless connection name, despite the fact that I've plugged in an ethernet cord. I could see that being the problem, except that even IT can't connect to that network. Unless the network name has changed when I changed routers (this is not a new problem, I'm just getting around to trying to tackle it now). Why in the world can one not simply delete a Homegroup?!!!!!!!!Also, under IPv6 Connectivity it says, 'No Network Access' for all of them. I do have internet for all of them. Thanks in advance for any help. Or, alternatively, if you could send one bullet to. Welcome to the forum Homegroup is never a good idea and not needed removing it and using workgroup is a lot simpler. IPV6 isnt used apart from home group it cant be used on the internet unless you isp supports it. Try removing it for a start Thanks. I already tried that. From what I can tell, none of my computers is connected to the HomeGroup - each one is prompted to join it upon opening it, and each is told that it then can't find the homegroup. Perhaps an old laptop that's no longer functioning was the one it's looking for, I don't know.I'll take a look at using a workgroup, instead. Otherwise, if any other thoughts, they'd be appreciated. Any thoughts on the fact that different computers are referring to the network by a different name? They're all coming out of a Netgear router, but some call it Time Warner Cable, etc., by my laptop (with ethernet) is calling it Netgear, the router name. And most importantly, could this be the problem?I updated the driver on my laptop, and flushed the DNS and renewed it, and it still says it's Netgear, and shows IPv6 as No network access. Not sure what setting your refering to you can rename the network to what ever you like.If you dont have homegroups you can disable ipv6 its not used and just adds traffic you then in a work group and can share and connect to other pcs in the workgroupThanks for the WorkGroups tip; I didn't realize that upon installing win 10 each computer is already in it. Then it appears I just needed to figure out how to give ownership to other computers, I thought the computer/drive had, as I looked under Security and for the drive I had ticked Full Control to Everyone, but then I used the CMD prompt to do so and was able to access the drive I was trying to.Though I still found that I needed to copy the files over, and then delete, rather than cut-and-paste. No biggie, as it did the job. As long as this does what I needed, I'll just stick with the WorkGroup; thanks! Contents:.HomeGroup missing after Windows 10 1803Since Windows 10 1803 it is no longer possible to create a HomeGroup. This feature has been removed in the latest builds. On the one hand, I think this is the right step. The HomeGroup setup is rather confusing and relatively complex for the home user. After upgrading your Windows 10 to the version 1803, you will come across the fact that:. The HomeGroup section does not appear in the Explorer navigation panel;. The HomeGroup item is missing in the Control Panel. This means that you can’t create, join or leave a HomeGroup;. You can’t share files and printers using the HomeGroup;. All shared printers and folders created with the HomeGroup will be still available. But you can’t create new ones. However, in Windows 10, you can still share resources that were previously shared within the HomeGroup. Simply, the sharing process looks a bit different. As a rule, you can disable password protection on the home network because you trust all the devices in it. For a small office LAN, you can enable password protection. The easiest way to transfer a file between computers with Windows 10 is to use the feature. Windows 10 Can't Create Homegroup On This ComputerIn Windows File Explorer locate the folder or file that you want to share;. Right click on it and select Give access to - Specific people;. You can grant access to a specific account (with password access enabled: the user will be prompted for a password when accessing this network folder). Or you can enable access for all users, including anonymous (the Everyone group). In this case, the password will not be requested when accessing files in this network directory;. When configuring permissions to access shared folder you can grant Read, Read/Write access or Remove access for the specific users or groups;. If you have not previously enabled network discovery, you will be prompted to. Network discovery and file sharingDo you want to turn on network discovery and file sharing for all public networks?. No, make the network that i am connected to a private network (Network discovery and file sharing will be turned on for private networks, such as those in homes and workplaces). Yes, turn on network discovery and file sharing for all public networks. If you are setting up a home or office network, select that your network is private. You will then receive a message that your folder is shared, and the link in the UNC format: Desktop-IOPF9Distr. You can copy this link to the clipboard or send it to e-mail.
