Was first released in 2011 on the previous console generation and PC, and to say it was a great game would be an understatement. It won countless awards and is almost always high ranking in Top 100 Best Games Lists. Spawning countless memes, and the various strange glitches we could manipulate, Skyrim is great and fun. Fans of the game helped push Skyrim to new heights, with a strong modding community on PC.Due to the game's on-going popularity, we were blessed with a gorgeously overhauled newer, shinier Skyrim, bringing mod support to consoles for the first time. Here are our favorites. This award winning, critically acclaimed mod is, basically, a fan made expansion bordering on official DLC quality realms of brilliance. With this installed, from level 5 your character will be approached by a courier who directs you to the Forgotten City. What follows is a six-to-eight-hour original and non-linear experience, in an incredibly intricate and beautiful new city. How to multi select on windows. How can the answer be improved? A Guide To All Skyrim Perks. Practically speaking, Skyrim Perks are a special reward you receive in addition to an increase in Magicka, Health, or Stamina gained from leveling up. There are many Perks, and each are represented beneath the color coded Skill Constellations (red for Warrior, blue for Mage, and green for Thief). The Top Ten 1 One-Handed The most essential skill for fighting in skyrim. 2 Sneak Those damage bonuses are absurd! I've killed a dragon in 1 hit with a sneak attack. 3 Light Armor While it's not as good as Heavy Armor (in my humble opinion). 4 Archery The archery system in skyrim is fantastic. In Skyrim, it is essential to pick which skill trees to grace carefully, as you will probably only ever get 50 or so points to allocate. So here are the top 10 skills for the best/most fun gameplay! Even boasting complex moral decisions with consequences, and several different endings, it would be a shame to miss out on such beautifully crafted modding!Frostfall - Hypothermia Camping Survival. If you wanted to turn Skyrim into a potentially fatal survival game, Frostfall would be the mod to do it. The three main components of this mod are hypothermia, cold water survival, and camping. This mod tracks everything from time of day, and weather to what you are wearing to create an immediately immersive experience. Your character can visibly become wet and snowy. It is also deeply customizable, making the experience as pleasant or unpleasant as you feel comfortable with. It adds new attributes to your character, Wetness and Exposure, and defenses for Warmth and Coverage. As you get colder, it raises your Exposure, and your skills suffer as a result; and when you are Wet, it increases your Exposure quicker. Warmth will always reduce Exposure, and Coverage decreases Wetness. You'll need the following mod to implement the effects of this fully.Hardcore Difficulty - No Milkdrinkers! Couple this with Frostfall, and you've pretty much got yourself a Skyrim/The Sims cross-over. If keeping your Dragonborn alive wasn't hard enough, you'll now also have to make sure they're well rested, and well fed and watered. Messages appear to keep you informed of your status, as well as sound effects so you hear your stomach rumbling. The heavier the food, the more filling it is, and you'll begin the game with a waterskin but they can be crafted and purchased if you need more.Just Walk - No Fast Travel. There are other cheat mods available, and this certainly isn't the tidiest but I selected this one in particular due to one of the additional things it does. This mod spawns a book on a stool that you can find at the Standing Stones just after you escape from Helgen on your way to Riverwood. Selecting the book adds a spell to the Restoration section of your magic, which is the cheat menu. You can fast level, or add items and money, etc. ![]() But you can also turn off collision detection, enabling you to bypass entire sections of the map just by aiming into the sky while you walk! See my personal screenshot above of this in action! The good thing about this cheat mod is that it only requires a free spell to launch.Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch. The most comprehensive mod for straightening out all the bugs, kinks and glitches left in the game post-release. Made to be compatible with as many mods as possible, you'll want to install this for a cleaner and less messy game. See our for more details. Skyrim Tips and Tricks. You don't have to spend time catching butterflies and picking flowers to get easy alchemy money. You can buy all the inexpensive ingredients merchants sell. Save the game. Kill the merchant. Reload the game. There will be a new set of items for sale! You can also wait 42 hours or fast travel to different cities' alchemists. Alchemy is easy money and can provide powerful bonuses to any other skill in the game. Poisons are powerful; the effects stack if you hit multiple times with lingering damage health! Paralysis poison is over powered. Slow poisons make being an archer easy. Weakness to magic poisons are great for mages. Add them to favorites for faster use. You can have two weapons poisoned at once. Equip and poison one at a time then equip them both. Use invisibility to get close easy. Drink a fortify one handed to hit hard. Sneak attack. Use poison of weakness to poison as first hit so all other poison hits are more effective. Use frenzy poison to make non killable NPCs attack you. You can fight them forever and gain XP. Waiting instantly refills health/stamina/magicka. Just hit 't' then enter. Wait 42 hours for shop keepers to replenish gold (24 + 18). At level 40 Pickpocket there is a perk that lets you reverse pickpocket and give people poisons. They will use them and either die or run out. Each poison lasts one hit but there's a perk to make them last two hits. You can sprint by holding alt in PC. Hit twice 'r' to sheath then yield bow so you don't waste an arrow if it's drawn. hold 'c' to autowalk. You can hit 'y' when prompted to hit yes or no. Useful for when you're smithing 10,000 iron daggers. Get the as early as possible, it gains all skills 15% faster. You can also get and from inns. Get a. If you, your spouse gives you money from their shop. You can play. Dungeons and chests scale to your level. If you only level single damage abilities the game is pretty easy. Mages only need destruction and followers. Coming back to chests gives good loot if you leave them to higher levels. You could play as level 1 khajiit with no armor and go through several quests without problem. Claws have bonus attack and make level one enemies easy to beat but don't give XP. Leveling gives better gear but also harder enemies. Giving money to (non-drunken) beggars gives you a very good temporary bonus to speech. Give your local bum a dollar before buying and selling those high priced items. f5 = quicksave. F9 = quickload. You can make quick save middle mouse click. Middle mouse click is also great alternatively for shouts. Use explosive spells in the ground in front of magical shields. They will take full damage. Everything outdoors is pretty easy. Find a steep ledge or rock and attack the creature with magick or arrows. Lightning is instant hit, has long range and needs no distance calculation. You can fast travel on a horse while over encumbered and they can also climb mountains much easier. Alt to sprint also works for them. Roaming around whiterun there's a lot of blue mountain flowers, wheat and blue butterflies. That's a very expensive combination to use in alchemy. Put a bucket over a shop keepers head. You can steal all their items and level sneak. In the beginning of the game you can repeatedly sneak attack the NPC that helps you through the dungeon. You can carry things holding down e and moving your mouse. You can carry things to other rooms and steal them easier. Give items a hotkey by clicking a number key in the favorites menu. There's no point in putting points in stamina. Potion of regen stamina is much better and stronger than using potions to restore X points of stamina. Don't let your stamina completely run out. It will not regenerate for a few seconds if it does. Torches make lockpicking easier and followers can automatically equip them when it gets dark. Followers can carry infinite weight if you tell them to pick things up. Infinite carry weight, revive your horse and followers. Sometimes the game glitches and you need the console. Sometimes you just want to walk through walls to see if you're missing something;). Followers will equip things you give them and use healing potions. Calm spell makes for easy sneak attacks. 'TESV Acceleration Layer offers CPU optimization, massive possible performance increases, now in SKSE plugin format'. Wild life run from you. Frenzy spell will make deer and elk attack you. If over encumbered you can put things in skeletons and carry a lootable bone. You can get an attack dog from Markath. You can have a follower and a dog at once. You can use carriages for easy travel to cities. You can use shouts in town and towns people will tell you were to find more. Don't forget to shout at mages as it will stop their spells. Shouting can knock people off cliffs and make things easier to steal. You can steal letters from the courier to find new locations. You can equip the pickaxe to mine faster. The color of the ore indicates the gems. Banish daedra enchantment is worth the most money so buy it if you can afford it. You can kill anyone without consequence if you make them frenzy and attack you first. silverside perch + skeever tail + salt pile = damage health + ravage health + damage stamina regen. canis root + impstool + river betty = damage health + paralysis. deathbell + pine thrush egg + salt pile = slow + weakness to poison. You don't need the best performing poison, just make a lot and favorite it. Something like deathbell + red mountain flower is easy to come by. Sell only one item at once if you have many expensive items stacked otherwise it doesn't count towards speech. Links:,.,. Watch people sleep for awhile before you kill them. A lot of trees have perks that can be wasteful unless you're going for a build that specifically requires that thing. For example, in Illusion you need to get three other perks in order to unlock the silent casting perk, and unless you're using Illusion those three perks are useless. Nevertheless, (almost) everything has some kind of use. With the exception of Lockpicking and Speech.Archery: Everything in the tree is great.Sneak: Tree is fine aside from the 'Don't trigger pressure plates' perk.One-handed and Two-handed: Both are great, although the final perks for both of them are stupid (seriously? 25% chance to paralyze AND I need to do a backwards power attack to trigger it?).Illusion: Entirely useful and can literally break the game with how overpowered it can be.Restoration: For a cleric it's all pretty good, though there really isn't any point to a lot of it unless you plan to specialize in offensive restoration spells.Alteration: Plain ol' armor is generally better, but it's a good way for magic users to work on yet another magic school without completely sacrificing their defense. Not to mention some of the perks are essentially to making an awesome magic-resisting character.Enchanting: Soul stealing perks are pretty terrible, but Enchanting is seriously the greatest school in the game. Don't want to level one-handed? Boom, now you're amazing at it anyways.Destruction: Totally fine.Conjuration: Passable, aside from the Summoner perk which is totally pointless unless you have a VERY specialized summoner-thief or something.Smithing: Fucking dragon armor broBlock: SO many people don't know the power of block that it's amazing. The right side of the tree is meh, but the rest is badass. Slow time while an enemy attacks? Knock them down? Protect against magical attacks? Hell yeah.Heavy Armor: Three of these perks (Cushioned, Fists of Steel, and Tower of Strength) suck. The rest are pretty good but the Steed Stone completely eliminates any need for going down the left side of the tree.Light Armor: Preferable to Heavy Armor tbh. You can reach the armor cap with both of them and Light Armor also has perks to speed up your movement and stamina regen. Everything is great here.Pickpocket: Hard to level unless you save-scum. But it's still incredible as hell for making money. For any thief who avoids killing it's a must, and there are some cool items you can only get by pickpocketing named NPCs.Alchemy: I don't really have the patience for alchemy, but it's still pretty awesome for making money and paralyze poisons are awesome as shit. Most of the perks make gathering easier, although Snakeblood, Experimenter, and Purity are all pretty terrible.Speech: Only reason to get ANYTHING in Speech 90% of the time is so that you can sell stolen goods to merchants. Otherwise a lot of the perks are moderately good at best.Lockpicking: Terrible tree unless for whatever reason you are really (and I mean REALLY) terrible at the minigame. I guess the two perks for finding more gold/treasure are alright, but having to get three other perks just to get to those? Yeah, no. Sneak tree is absolutely worth it.You see, the more you put into your skills, the actual better you are. Getting your sneak to the highest possible allows you to even be bumped into and moved around by other NPCs and they still won't detect you.The higher archery is, the more bang for your arrow, so to speak.Put points into light armor, however, you can easily just as well do a barbarian (light armor, but two-handed weapons to move fast and deadly) build, while keeping sneaking and archery viable. Putting perks into heavy armor would be useless because heavy armor is impossible to sneak in.In general, however, it's a good idea to have your build in mind beforehand and select your trees accordingly that you're going to focus on. You'll only cap out at level 81, and then you'll be able to go higher once you make a skill legendary. I generally start new characters by focusing on one-handed, light armor, sneak and archery perk trees. It seems like no matter how I role-play the character, those are the things I need to survive the first 20 levels. Past that, I try to let the character determine the perks so the perks reflect something about the way the character plays, rather than maxing out the most generally beneficial perks.I played a big brute nord warrior a few play throughs back and replaced Sneak tree with Block. Like FreezerSlave said below, the Block perk tree is really awesome, and often overlooked (5x damage on power bashes turns sword and shield play into a brutal form of dual wielding).My current character is a typical LOTR-style Aragorn ranger with a personalized sword I gave him from the start (live another life mod 'I'm a hunter in the woods' +1handed Luna sword from a mod). I should mention that I don't use magic at all and so cannot comment on the magic tree perks. My characters are never magic users.In the one-handed tree I go 5/5 on Armsman perk, I only bother with the bladesman branch 3/3 as this character will probably never use a axe or mace. I also like fighting stance, savage strike, critical charge all make sword fighting fun, the last perk I feel is skippable - you are so powerful by the time you get to it, you don't need it (this is the case with a lot of the top level perks IMO). I skip the dual-wield branch entirely because personally I don't like that you can't parry while you have a second weapon. Lots of people really like the dual wield perks though, they are powerful for that style of play and if you want to dual wield daggers or katanas or whatever these perks are a better spend of your points than than Paralyzing Strike.In Archery I take all of them as I unlock them. They are all good. Left side of the tree is arguably better.In the Sneak tree I only open up the first stealth perk 1/5 or maybe 2/5 character depending. I think it gets too powerful and game-breaky to be able to tip-toe right through the middle of jarls court without people seeing you. I like Backstab, Deadly Aim, Assassins Blade (mandatory for the sneak assassin thief jerk play through). I also really like the silent roll perk(very ninja), so I grab the two leading up to it, muffled movement and light foot so I can grab it. They are nice too. Muffled Movement is good if you wear any kind of armor at all. Light foot is good because I like not setting off pressure plates but some people think the booby traps are a fun part of the game. Honestly by the time you get this perk opened up, you've seen all the booby trap variety the game has to offer, so I don't think you are missing anything. Further up the sneak tree than Silent Roll, the perks make sneaking ridiculously easy so I don't take them any more.In Light Armor, like Sneak, I don't bother taking all of them. I just don't see a need for them. I take Agile Defender 5/5 and Custom Fit, but I'm hardly ever matching so Matching Set doesn't offer much benefit to me. Unhindered, Deft Movement and Wndwalker are all helpful but not life altering. Get your Smithing and Enchanting up and between your improved armor rating, enchantment buffs and Agile Defender perks your light armor will be nearly impenetrable.Past those trees, how I'm roleplaying the character decides how I'm going to spend the rest of my points. Maybe the character is a ranger and knows all about useful plants and bushcraft so I'll invest in the alchemy and enchanting trees. Maybe the character was a soldier before he started adventuring, so I'll invest in block and two-hand. Maybe the character came to Skyrim to learn the smithing arts or to become a master thief. Maybe a Palladin would gain enchanting and restoration talents over time, gifts from his devines.Generally, I think speech tree is a waste of perk points, Especially if you join the thieves guild. Without giving too much away, beating thieves guild questline gives you better enchanted items and abilities than the whole perk tree IMO.Generally I think the lockpicking perk tree is a waste of perk points. Unless you really suck at lockpicking and never thought to make some enchanted items to help you out. There are a few perks that are cool (Unbreakable, Golden Touch), but you have to invest a lot of perk points to get to themand on the whole you don't need them. Lockpicks are easy to come by and you will find gold in skyrim regardless. Lots of gold. I never invest points in lockpick anymore.here is a good write up opinion of all the perks:I agree with him on most points, most importantly he has experience with the perk trees in magic that I do not use.
