Are you talkin bout if there's 2 computers in one household sharing signal on 1 modem or a wireless enternet connection? Well as of my knowledge the main computer which connected to the modem/router should be the one performing this activity rather than the second computer in your house that gets its wireless signal from the modem/router.lol i might be wrong but i'm pretty sure you'll get. Realm Down FixBy: Matrix223Most people don't realize, but the first step in preventing realm down IPbans begins with your own actions. Its not how many games you create in aspecific amount of time. Its how much time you spend in the 'lobby' areabetween your previous game and your potential new game you'll be creating. To prevent realm downs its helpful to leave some extra time between thisprocess. Vary it between 5-10 seconds and you should really never get IPbanned due to creating games too quickly.Ok, but what if something else goes wrong and you get it anyways, what do youdo? A while back we experimented with using various IP spoofers to seewhich worked the best. Through this a half decent program was found:The full thing is not free but there is a usable version of it to suit ourneeds. This program can fool your computer into thinking you have adifferent MAC address then you actually do, thus changing your IP address. Some of this is dependent on your ISP and how it works. Because even ifyou change your Mac address the first three sets of your IP will always be thesame. (IP: same.same.same.new). So say your IP is185.12.21.79. After changing your MAC address and rebooting quickly (heyits better then waiting 30 min or usually longer for realms to go back up) yourIP might look something like this: 185.12.21.103. Like I said this iscompletely dependent on how your ISP works. Also note that you cant do thisthrough a router because a router has its own MAC address as well which is seenbefore the one you set on the computer. If this is the case you don't evenneed to use this program. Simply don't use your router for a while becauseby plugging directly into the wall, your new IP will be based off the MACaddress of your computers vs the routers.Remember if you do get a Realm down error, don't repeatedly login because itappears that when you do this, the amount of time it takes to go away tends tostack or even multiply in extreme cases. If you're not going use the abovemethod or if you do and it still fails you'll want to leave the game alone forat least an hour to be safe that when you log back in you wont get it again. If you log in and still see it you may want to wait an additional 2-3 hours.Hope this helps some of you get playing again. The program is simple andeasy to use but if you need help you can post in the forums. Andof course if anyone knows of another good IP spoofing program post any infothere as well. Realm Down Hell!I've been playing diablo 2 off and on for 10 years. I've dealt with the stupidity of realm downs, and I've always had my ways around them. I think I've met match over the last few days. I have no idea what to do to get around them now.First, I want to say that I'm not doing anything 'wrong'. I am playing the damn game. I go into games that last for 10-12 minutes, and after 2, 4 or 8 games, the moment I click 'save and exit', it just kicks me out of the account entirely, back to the login screen. If I try and login, I get a temp ban/real down message. Now, in the past, I've gotten this message before when I switch characters too fast, or when I'm muling and organizing all of my items. I've always disconnected the DSL and reconnected it, and everything went back to normal. It has always been my 'out of jail free' card. This is no longer working. While this gets around the realm down/temp ban, if I try to join a game or create a game it, it just says, 'Game does not exist'. What the hell?If I wait 15 minutes or so, I can start creating games again. However, when I 'save and exit' out of this game, I will get the temp ban again.I decided to wait 24 hours and not try anymore. I played 8 games normally - I even muled a bit - then I played 8 more games in the same fashion. I get the same problem.I waited another 24 hours, played 4 games - and BAM - get the same problem. It's been 3.5 days and this stupid temp ban/realm down isn't going away. Do I seriously need to wait 24 freaking hours each time it happens?!This is unreal. I have no faith in the game now. I cannot mule, for fear of exiting the game and getting a temp ban - only to not be able to join games because of the 'game does not exist' message if I disconnect/reconnect my dsl. I am now finally at risk of losing items. How can I get around this and prevent it from happening ever again? If I can't, I doubt I will keep playing. This problem is so serious and such a detriment to my enjoyment that I can no longer play this great game due such moronic, nonsensical blizzard policies. Re: Realm Down Hell!I don't want to play single player. I don't want to reaquire all the stuff I have, and relevel everyone up again.I have items like tyreal's and some really killer ladder-only stuff too that I don't think I would ever be able to make for single player. As far as trading is concerned, how do you even know if the items you are trading for are even legit? D2 ForumsCan't you just manufacture them out of thin air using some program? No, I think I'd probably be finished with the game. It's a shame. I have such amazing items on all of the characters I have. If one added up the monetary value of everything, like what they sell for on various websites, it would add up to over a thousand dollars easily I didn't pay any money for them of course, but there's some damn rare stuff on here. Re: Realm Down Hell! Are you serious? They encourage gambling in this game, and then they ban you for gambling?Maybe if they offered more than 1 or 2 damn icons for amulets/rings per screen, or tons of circlets per screen, I wouldn't have to refresh it so many damn times!Sigh. That must have been it. I did that A LOT. It is weird though, because I must have went into the gambling screen over 3000 times for a few days before I was banned, but now I'm getting banned just for regular play.Hell, I even started a new ladder character - no MF runs or anything - and I just died at Hell ancients, exited the game, and got a temp ban.I don't know what to do anymore. I'm just sick of it. I had no problems while I was leveling in ladder, but that's also because I didn't make many games. I am still scared.less to mule an item though. I won't do it. If the game temp-bans me on the way out of the game before I bring in the mule, I will get 'game does not exist' if I disconnect/reconnect my dsl. So I will lose the items. This whole issue is non-sense. They just need to rip out these counter-measures out of the game. They obviously don't work to prevent botting, so what is the point? Click to expand.I don't think they're intended to prevent botting. I think they're intended to prevent over-taxing of the (limited) b.net hardware assigned for diablo 2. A lot of duping methods also involve crashing the server, so temp banning people who flood makes sense. That said, they do seem over-the-top sometimes. I don't know why it would continue to be a problem for you days later, unless they have some sort of watch-list that you get put on, and then get a more restrictive rule-set. But I've not read about anything like that existing. Re: Realm Down Hell!I think they are absolutely over the top. The fact that you can lose items by these anti-flood measures suggests a big problem with the game's design. This shouldn't be a problem in the first place. That is absolutely going over the top in terms of punishment, let alone not knowing the length of the temp ban because it is 'hidden'. The timer resets for 'checking' are equally absurd.I wouldn't. and complain about it if they had a shared stash. They could easily implement that, but they never do.I just think it's wrong to punish players for 'muling' and 'organizing their mules' by the loss of items. It is totally over the top. Never mind my specific issues - this problem interferes with normal play way too much. They might argue that muling isn't normal, but what they did expect people to do?Things seem to be working for me again. I've made 7 games. I even went in and out of games that were fairly short. And I'm still online. I guess that most recent temp ban was only an hour or two.Still, this is frustrating. Because the temp bans are totally arbitrary from my point of view - I have no idea when they are going to happen - it has made me ultra paranoid to the point where I refuse to mule. At least before, I knew I could switch in-and-out of characters/accounts about 4-5 times before it would give me a realm down. It was stupid, but at least it was predictable. Now, that is no longer the case because it happens when I press 'save and exit' as opposed to logging into an account and getting 'realm down'. It's a different problem now.I'm basically just going to give out free items as I mf them. And if nobody is around, I'm charsing basically everything unless I really actually want it. I don't have much choice anymore. Dragon ball earth 11. So much for 'building wealth'. Click to expand. That's not true. When you buy products you enjoy and provide the benefits you want, that is a win-win trade. In a way, a purchase of a blizzard product is a vote for that company, and it is a reward. It's a value that goes both ways. They get your money, and you get the values you want in return. But buying a second copy of the game does not have this win-win aspect to it. In that case, I'm basically forced to buy a second copy of the game because the original product is faulty. They do not deserve to be rewarded a second time when the only reason I need to buy a second copy is to correct the flaw in the first. That is really absurd when you think about it. You don't pay the same hydro company more money when the power goes out, and you don't pay pizza hut more money when they burn your pizza. That's not true. Battle.net is a free service offered by Blizzard and is entirely unnecessary for D2 at all. Note that I'm not a Single Player advocate because I myself prefer BNet to SP anyway, but to be honest I'm actually impressed that the infrastructure for it is still around after almost 15 years. With regards to the whole shared stash thing, I remember this being debated quite awhile ago back when patch 1.13. I'm not sure if alot of you guys remember but back in 2009 Blizzard basically announced a content patch and posted on their official forums asking for suggestions from the community about what to put in it (check out for a blast from the past). One of the most popular suggestions was shared stash but Bashiok (the community manager for Blizzard) responded after talking to the developers that this option was simply not feasible in the current structure of Battle.net. I can't find the post of it though since alot of the stuff from that whole 1.13 debate seems to have been cleaned up but that is my recollection. I'll look around abit but it was essentially a summary post of the top suggested ideas and the status of whether they would be considered in 1.13 I believe.
