Outstanding Sound, Quality, ValueWell, I guess I should start by saying I am not the type of person most people think of when they think of Beats. I'm a retired military guy almost 70 years oldWell, I guess I should start by saying I am not the type of person most people think of when they think of Beats. I'm a retired military guy almost 70 years old. Though dozens of the guys at the military gym I use do have them, I've been fairly content with my Bose SoundTrues and Klipsch Studios. After spending $300 on Bose QC25s, and have them work on and off and finally die at the one year mark, I was ready for something more durable, thicker wires, and reliable. I waited until they went on sale in my military exchange and got the Black/Silver ones for $230. They came through perfectly. Unable to open web pages. I held my breath as I set them up, not knowing if they were going to be too heavy, too much bass, or what. I'm not a big bass guy. I like some of it with classical music and some jazz, but a lot of my music is pop, J-Pop, C-Pop, opera, and soundtracks. My time in the military exposed me to a lot of different cultural music. Well, I am happy to say that these headphones, set with Flat, Treble Booster, or even Bass Booster EQs from my iTunes Library, made every sample I selected sound wonderful. As I said, I'm not a big bass fan but I like sweeping orchestrations in classical and pop.and these headphones did them beautifully.almost like I was surrounded by the orchestra! I never got that from my Bose or Klipsch. I guess the fact that these are 50mm drivers (and not 40) makes a difference. The real test for me, though, is the high vocals (I listen to a lot of Italian tenors, as well as a lot of Japanese/Chinese/Latina female pop artists). The mids were equally there, most notably in concert and jazz selections. The trebles, however, were very crisp and breathing and word pronunciation came through very clearly. I am by no means an audiophile, but I love how these headphones sound, the musical presence they provide, and their ability not to distort or drown out the mids or trebles. In some pop songs with orchestration, these headphones bring out the low string sounds very well, something missing from my Bose. I'm not into a lot of other genres-country, R&B, hip-hop, but these Beats perform admirably for my mostly pop, rock, classical, and jazz collections of songs. They are outstanding build quality, but do weigh about 8 ounces more than my Bose, but that is not an issue for me as I have a large head to keep them from moving around. Another bonus-no batteries, yet they isolate sound almost as well as my Bose noise-cancelling headphones did, but they are not active noise-cancelling of course. A major bonus-my iPod Nano and new iPod Touch (Gen 6) play very efficiently at 40-50% of volume with these. The Beats Pros have very low ohms and high sensitivity, which means they don't require a lot of your device's battery power, which is good for iPod/iPhone users. Some other brands require an amp as the ohms are so high, but these seem very well suited to small mobile devices. I have no need for an amp unless I wanted to be drowned completely in bass. My Bose QC25s, which broke, required 70% volume compared to these 40-50% for the same listening volume, and the noise-cancelling technology in the Bose hurt my eardrums sometimes. All in all, I'm very pleased with these outstanding headphones, and at my age I'm pretty hard to please. I have 90 days to return these to the military exchange for a refund, but I've decided they're $230 well spent. In the back of my mind I think I read where Apple or Beats changed the sound signature on these from the original heavy bass sound. Now, these are very pleasing to a guy who, as I said, is not a huge heavy bass fan. If you are, you'll still like these as with Bass Booster or Treble Reducer, you can make them bass strong. These are tremendous quality and value compared to my flimsy Bose that broke so quickly. I am glad Beats made a headphone that provides excellent listening for my type of music. These are going to be my favorite headphones very soon. More (Read full review).Written by Robert F from North Las Vegas.May 3, 2016735 of 929 people found this useful. We’ve got our first Galaxy Note 8 Oreo update rolling out! 8 t on ao. Beats Pro Limited Edition DetoxEven in a crowded environment with speakers on full blast, you somehow manage to slip away into your own world. The only thing you will feel is the bass on your chest from the clubs subwoofers. These beats are built to last it all. As a Dj I needed something sturdy, high quality, and had noise cancellation. When it comes to mixing you don't seem to be overwhelmed with treble or bass. It's the perfect blend leaving you in shock and awe. I have the solo 3, and they are good sounding headphones, but the cushions on these are consisted when it comes to coming off the glued area showing the foam underneath. I’ve had them replaced once then twice from the same flawed quality issue. Now Apple is telling me they can’t replace them unless it happens a third time. So in order for this to happen I have to pay for there flaw in product in order to get a replacement down the line if it happens a third time again. Apple dosn’t truly back there products if they are flawed. Coming from an Apple fan.
